In case you missed the last Southwest Valley Community Plans Update virtual outreach event, the team held four Webinars last December to present our Proposed General Plan Land Use Map. The Proposed General Plan Land Use Map is a significant milestone which lays out the vision of the Southwest Valley and guides how the built environment will develop over the next 20 years.

Woodland Hills stakeholders are invited to join in with stakeholders from Tarzana, Sherman Oaks and Studio City to learn more about City Plannings efforts to update the Specific Plan in coordination with the updates to Community Plans of the South San Fernando Valley. The Woolsey Fire is primarily burning west of Woodland Hills; however, residents should be use local news and emergency alert services to stay informed in the event of shifts in the fire due to wind conditions.  There are still evacuations in LA areas bordering Topanga and near Calabasas as well as Topanga, Malibu, portions of Calabasas, Agoura Hills and areas in Ventura County.  There are road closures where Woodland Hills borders some of these areas.

An update on LAUSD efforts to support students and schools in Woodland Hills

L.A. Unified School Board Vice President, Nick Melvoin, and Board Member Scott Schmerelson, who each represent sections of Woodland Hills, will address parents and stakeholders in Woodland Hills this Wednesday Oct. 10th at our Full NC Board Meeting. Topics of discussion will include:

  1. An overview of achievements to-date to ensure schools are thriving and remain safe spaces for learning, while also outlining key priorities for the upcoming year,
  2. Key updates on the District’s contract negotiations, and
  3. Addressing questions or concerns from parents and community members on schools in Woodland Hills and LAUSD as a whole.

This is a great opportunity to meet and hear from your elected LAUSD board Members and learn about local school opportunities and concerns.
