The next PLUM 1 Committee meetings will be:  Thursday, August 7 and 21 at St. Bernadine’s Church, in the Parish Hall, 24410 Calvert Street, Woodland Hills, CA 91367.  We have moved our PLUM 1 meetings to the first and third Thursdays of each month

Restock your book shelves for summer atthe WOODLAND HILLS LIBRARY’S quarterly BOOK SALE Friday and Saturday, May 23 – 24 at 22200 Ventura Blvd. A large selection of children’s and adult fiction in trade and mass market paperbacks for $.50 to $1.00. Non-fiction in a unbelievably wide variety of subjects in paper and hardback from$1.00 to $2.00. Some special editions are often worthy of collecting and are priced individually. Also available are VHS, DVDs, CDs as well as audio tapes specially priced at 10/$1.00. Every child receives a free book. Sale hours: Friday 10 am – 4 pm and Saturday 10 am – 2 pm.

The next meeting will take place on May 3rd at 10:30 am at BJ’s Restaurant, 6420 Canoga Avenue, Woodland HIlls, in the front meeting room. This is a board retreat and the new board will be sworn in.

Santa Susana Field Lab Cleanup Meeting-Wednesday April 9th in Simi Valley

The WHWCNC urges you to attend the meeting of the California Toxic Substance Control Department on April 9th at Simi Valley High School,5400 Cochran St., Simi Valley, CA 93063 at 6:30pm. This meeting is dealing with the cleanup of the Santa Susana Field Labs. This proposed clean-up may cause over 150,000 dump trucks to traverse through Woodland Hills carrying and potentially spreading dirt and dust from the radioactive and toxic grounds of the labs throughout our neighborhoods for the next ten years, 12 hours per day, 5 days per week, or more.. We need your support. Please attend!

The election will take place at Westfield Topanga in the Canyon area on the first floor next to the new California Pizza Kitchen Location. There will be curbside voting available

Neighborhood Council Candidate Filing Begins On December 31

Starting DECEMBER 31 go to empowerla.org and click on Elections then click on Region 3 and click on Woodland Hills-Warner Center for candidate filing information, candidate forms & NC area maps. You can run in your area for one of these specific director titles: Residential, Business, and Community Based Organization. There is also (1) At-Large seat. Starting DECEMBER 31 look for more information on the Council Website Elections page at whcouncil.org

Councilman Bob Blumenfield Addresses the WHWCNC

Councilman Bob Blumenfield addressed the WHWCNC on his first 138 days in office at the meeting on November 13th. Lots of discussion of a new pocket park at the old Fire Station 84 location on Canoga. Over 73% of WH residents favor a pocket park.
